Where did you plan to have your birth, and why was it your chosen place?
Home birth because that’s the place where I feel the safest, in my environment with my family around. Being at home also allowed my son to see his little sister being born, which was something important for me.
How did you prepare yourself for the birth? What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?
I did KG hypnobirthing, listening to the Hypnobirthing tracks every night before sleep.
Did the spinning babies daily exercises every night. I had several sessions with (my doula) Tomoko before the birth to prepare mentally for the change of adding a new baby to the family and reflect about what is important for me and my family during the birth.
Where did you actually have your birth? Tell us the details of your birth.
Homebirth on my baby's due date. Sensations started early in the morning and my baby was born around 4pm. Used the hypnobirthing tracks, a comb and a tens machine for pain relief. 15 min after getting into the pool, my baby head was born! After that my body rested for 4 minutes and only then I had a contraction to push my baby body out. I wonder if my beautiful and empowering birth would have been so different if I was in a more medicalised environment.
How did your birth experience impact your life afterward?
This was my second beautiful homebirth. It just confirmed to me that women bodies are amazing and we are built to birth as long as we know ourselves, do the work beforehand and trust in our bodies.
Message for mothers/parents currently expecting and those aspiring to have a baby.
Trust in your body and do your homework to achieve the birth you aim. To give birth to the baby, our body was nurturing during 9 months. It’s one of the most beautiful experience a woman can have.
